Chili Cheese Sliders
Have you ever found a recipe that you knew you had to make and within a few days you made it? Well that's me with this one and it was a perfect day to make it! It was Sunday when both football and NASCAR were on TV and we felt like staying home! I saw this recipe come across my Facebook page and it was from DELISH
I changed some things to this recipe to our liking because it really needed something like "zip" as my hubby called it! That's when the water, worcestershire and honey came into play! It was super good but we thought maybe 1 more thing could have gone in there like ketchup or hot sauce or jalapeno or who knows??? We really liked this and will be making them again!
Perfect for a get together as munchies or appetizers or for dinner as we had them!
1¼ pounds ground beef
2 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
½ cup onion, diced
1 (14.5 ounce) can fire roasted tomatoes
1 (1.25 ounce) packet Original Chili Seasoning Mix
salt & pepper, to taste
1/3 cup water
2 Tablespoons worcestershire
2 Tablespoons honey
12 Slider buns
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
3 teaspoons butter, melted
garlic powder, to taste
Preheat oven to 350°
In a large skillet brown and crumble ground beef. Drain. While the ground beef drains add olive oil and onions to the same skillet and saute.
Stir in cooked ground beef, tomatoes, chili seasoning mix, salt, pepper and water. Simmer until liquid is reduced and it thickens. Add worcestershire and honey and mix well. Simmer 5 more minutes. Remove from heat.
Spray a 9x13 baking dish. Place the bottom halves of the slider buns in the dish. Top with chili mixture, spreading evenly. Sprinkle cheese over chili mixture. Place the top halves of the buns on top.
Brush the tops of the buns with the melted butter. Sprinkle with garlic powder.
Bake until cheese melts and warmed through, 15-20 minutes.
