Saucy Parmesan Chicken
Amazingly Delicious! So flavorful yet so simple! The house smelled like pizza while this was baking! Hubby said, "Keeper"
This sauce is out of this world good! You could make this sauce for anything Italian that calls for sauce! The cheese and spices mixed in with your favorite spaghetti sauce makes for one delicious, full flavor, love in your tummy, meal! It takes the chicken breast to a whole new level! Cheesy goodness!
Cavatappi pasta is the best thing since sliced bread! It is corkscrew shaped pasta with ridges and the ridges hold the sauce beautifully! It makes an awesome macaroni & cheese! It is my new favorite pasta along with wagon wheels!
This is a recipe that I came up with using things that I had on hand!
24 ounces your favorite spaghetti sauce
4½ ounces shaved Parmesan cheese, divided
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon basil
1 Tablespoon minced garlic
4 thinner chicken breasts, thawed
garlic salt, to taste
½ cup shredded Romano cheese
2 cups Cavatappi pasta, cooked and drained (corkscrew pasta with ridges)
Preheat oven to 425°
In a sprayed 8x11 casserole dish, mix spaghetti sauce, most of the shaved Parmesan cheese saving some for garnish, oregano, basil and garlic. Mix well.
Sprinkle chicken on both sides with garlic salt. Lay chicken in mixture and spoon some mixture over chicken, covering chicken completely with sauce mixture.
Sprinkle with remaining shaved Parmesan and shredded Romano cheese.
Bake uncovered 35-45 minutes or until chicken is done (175° internally) and cheese is lightly brown and bubbly.
Cook and drain pasta.
Serve sauce and chicken over pasta.
