Asian Beef With Sesame Noodles
I love cooking with my wok but I don't use it nearly as often as I would like to! I guess I just need to make more Chinese dishes since we love Chinese food!
I have to admit that this is my 1st time ever cooking with fresh ginger! I've used ground ginger many times but I decided to venture out and try fresh ginger! The smell in the kitchen after I peeled and sliced it was wonderful! It has it's own very unique smell!
This made a nice amount of sauce and it was very good! We don't like our veggies crunchy so that's why the cooking time is a little longer than some may like so adjust accordingly!
Now I would put the Sesame Noodles up against any Chinese restaurant because they were out of this world good but I can't seem to put my finger on the heartbeat of the Chinese dishes! Don't get me wrong, this was very good but the taste just wasn't like a Chinese restaurant would make! They must have a super secret for their way of making dishes! I have made General Tso and Black Pepper Chicken which were delicious but I used bottled sauces from Trader Joe's! Anyway, my family liked it and ate it! Hubby added soy sauce to his and raved over it!
*You can use a variety of beef in this recipe such as ribeye, sirloin or strip steaks but I bought the pre-cut strips and the label said Beef For Stir Fry so I'm not sure what kind it was but it looked like ribeye! Here is what my package looked like*
For the beef
2 pounds thin cut beef *See note above*
1 cup flour
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon fresh minced ginger
1/3 cup oyster sauce
1 tablespoon hot sauce (optional)
2 tablespoons orange juice
2 teaspoons five-spice powder
1/4 teaspoon sesame oil
2 teaspoons sesame chili oil
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 (10 ounce) bag stir fry vegetables
4 ounces water chesnuts, drained & sliced
4 ounces bamboo shoots, drained
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Dust beef strips with flour and let sit 2 hours. Cover and refrigerate.
In a bowl, mix honey, soy sauce, ginger, oyster sauce, hot sauce, orange juice, five spice powder, sesame oil and chili oil. Cover and refrigerate 2 hours.
In a wok on medium-high heat add oil and heat until hot. Add beef strips and sear 4 minutes. Add sauce and continue cooking 6 minutes.
Push beef up towards the sides of wok, add veggies and red pepper flakes. Cook 10 minutes or until veggies are to your liking. Mix well with beef. You can use the lid if desired.
