Italian Grinder
We love sandwiches of any kind! I came up with "grinder" for this sandwich because I have a "hoagie" recipe and a "sub" recipe! Grinders are toasted and this is toasted so I went with the name Italian Grinder!
Fresh meats topped with crunchy lettuce, onion, pickle and banana peppers made for one great grinder dressed up with melted provolone cheese, mayo, Italian dressing all on a crispy buttery garlic roll! A party for the taste buds and love in the tummy! This grinder is so versatile, you can use any combination of meats and toppings!
I made this in my toaster oven but making it in your broiler would be just as good and I am going to try it in my broiler next time just to try it out! The key to keeping the toppings fresh and crisp are adding them at the end! Delicious!
To make 1 (6 inch) Grinder
1 (6 inch) sub roll
pat of butter
½ teaspoon minced garlic
mayo to taste
2 slices provolone cheese, sliced to fit roll
4 big slices pepperoni, more if using small pepperoni
2 slices thin deli ham
4 slices salami
3 slices bacon, cooked and drained
lettuce, onion, pickle, banana peppers or toppings of choice
drizzle of Zesty Italian Salad Dressing
Melt butter and garlic together. Open roll up. Brush garlic butter on the top outside of roll. Lay roll open face with insides facing up.
On top inside, place cheese. On bottom inside, spread mayo and layer pepperoni, ham and salami.
Place in toaster oven and toast 4½ minutes or more or less depending on your toaster oven. You want the cheese melted and roll toasted.
Remove and add cooked bacon, toppings and drizzle with salad dressing and close roll to make sandwich.
Return to toaster oven until top is crispy, about 2 minutes depending on toaster oven.
