Philly Cheesesteak Hamburger Helper
I joined Taste Of Home in 2007 and that's when I learned how to cook! Before 2007 I was a box and can cook! Hamburger Helper was my go to box dinners! And we liked them!
When I saw this recipe it looked good to me and it was! Homemade Hamburger Helper! Awwwww, I finally made it! I'm a real cook now!
This was creamy cheesy goodness! Everything worked well together and made for one delicious dinner! Easy to throw together!
Recipe adapted from Dinner Then Dessert
2 cups dry elbow macaroni, I use Cellentani which is elbows with the ridges
1 pound lean ground beef, cooked and drained
2 tablespoons butter
1 small onion, diced
1 small green bell pepper, diced
8 ounces brown mushrooms minced
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
salt & pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 cups beef broth
8 ounces Provolone Cheese Slices, chopped
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain.
In a skillet crumble and brown ground beef. Stir the ground beef and brown until a deep crust appears on about 50 or so percent of the beef. Drain.
In the same skillet add the butter, onions, peppers and mushrooms. Sauté 4-5 minutes.
Add beef back into the pan.
In a small cup mix the beef broth and cornstarch together. Add the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, beef broth/cornstarch mixture into the pan.
Bring to a boil and then simmer about 4-5 minutes or until it thickens up some but still has a little liquid. Add the pasta back to the pan and mix well. Add the provolone cheese and mix well. Cook until cheese melts.
Top with mozzarella cheese before serving.
