Egg Roll In A Bowl
This was a very good Asian dish but I really wanted it to taste like a deconstructed egg roll but it was my fault that it wasn't up to my expectations but I needed to use up a roll of breakfast sausage so I went with that! NO, I should have just went to the grocery store and bought a package of regular ground pork like Johnsonville Mild or Kroger brand and I'm going to do that very soon because I can't wait for this dish to turn out the way I imagined it!
I found a lot of different recipes for this on Pinterest and I took a little of this and a little of that from each recipe and added a few of my ideas and came up with this! Make sure to top with Wonton Strips or Tortilla Strips for a extra crunch like an egg roll!
Great dinner!
1 pound ground pork
1 medium onion, diced
Cayenne pepper, to taste
1 (14 ounce) bag Classic Cole Slaw Mix
2 Tablespoons minced garlic
2 teaspoons ginger
3 Tablespoons sesame oil
6 Tablespoons soy sauce
2 Tablespoons rice vinegar
Wonton Strips, for garnish (found in salad/produce section)
green onions, for garnish, optional
In a large skillet brown and crumble pork. Drain. In the same skillet sauté onion and sprinkle onions with Cayenne pepper while sautéing. Return pork to skillet with onions.
Add Cole Slaw Mix. Mix well with pork and sautéed onions.
Mix garlic, ginger, sesame oil, soy sauce, & rice vinegar. Pour over Cole Slaw mixture & stir to combine. Cook 5-7 minutes on medium heat or until sauce reduces a little, stirring often.
Garnish with Wonton Strips. Garnish with green onions if desired.
