Teriyaki Onion Burgers
I found this recipe on allrecipes allrecipes.com/recipe/71539/teriyaki-onion-burgers/ and it carried 4½ stars out of 5 and my hubby gives it that rating as well! I had a little cold and my taste buds were off and I wasn't tasting what he was tasting so we are going to try it again! He said "tangy sweet Asian flavor" and I can't believe that my taste buds were that off! I tasted a "touch" of sweet Asian!
I read some reviews that said it needed seasoning so I added a few things like seasoned salt, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce and garlic as some reviewers suggested! One review said to top with grilled pineapple and my hubby agrees! The Brioche buns are out of this world good! Sweet and buttery with a super soft texture! Yum!
We always freeze our burgers 30 minutes or so before grilling so they don't fall apart on the grill and it works like a charm! They held together perfect! Make sure to give the burgers a good char during the final minutes of cooking so the french fried onions get good and done and not left soggy as some reviewers stated!
1 pound ground beef
seasoned salt, to taste
2 Tablespoons brown sugar
2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
minced garlic, to taste
¼ cup teriyaki marinade sauce
1 (2.8 ounce) can French Fried Onions, crushed
4 Brioche buns or buns of choice
4 slices American cheese or cheese of choice
tomato, onion, lettuce or toppings of choice
In a bowl, spread out beef and sprinkle with seasoned salt, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic and teriyaki marinade sauce. Cover and place in fridge to marinate 2 hours or longer.
Remove from fridge and drain any excess marinade. Add crushed French Fried Onions. Gently mix well and form into 4 patties. Don't over mix or you will end up with meatloaf consistency.
Place formed burgers in freezer 30 minutes or until firm. Remove.
On medium high heat grill burgers 8 minutes per side or until your desired doneness. You want to char them on high heat during their final flips.
Place buns on grill, insides down and toast bun.
Top with cheese and serve with your toppings of choice.
