Lunchroom Style Pizza BurgersDelicious! These were so easy to make! My family loved them and hubby said they reminded him of his school cafeteria lunches! We gobbled them down and I will be making them again! You could add any toppings to this mixture! It seems like a very versatile recipe! I bet mushrooms would be good sautéed with the veggies but my family doesn't like mushrooms! Chopped up pepperoni sounds good too! I used Muenster cheese but the original recipe called for Mozzarella! Awesome dinner! Recipe adapted from Cooking With Carlee 1 pound lean ground beef 1 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil 1 small onion, diced 1 small green bell pepper, diced cayenne pepper, to taste 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 1 (15 ounce) can pizza sauce, Chef Boyardee is great 8 hamburger buns 8 slices Muenster cheese 2 Tablespoons butter 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt Preheat oven to 375° In a large skillet, brown and crumble ground beef. Drain. In the same skillet heat olive oil and add onion and green pepper. Season with cayenne pepper. Sauté until a little charred and soft. Add beef back into skillet with veggies. Season with garlic powder. Stir in pizza sauce. Mix well. Place buns on a sheet pan. Spoon 1/8 of the meat mixture onto each bun. Top with a slice of cheese. Melt butter and stir in the garlic salt. Brush over the tops of the hamburger buns and leave buns open faced. Bake for about 7 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden to your liking.
