Sausage Tortellini Alfredo
I love homemade Alfredo sauce! I've eaten tortellini before but never made it myself and it was very good! My family liked it for their 1st go around eating it! It went perfect with the Alfredo sauce!
A hearty meal that's flavored with the sausage! The tortellini and Alfredo add the perfect touch for a delicious meal! Good served with garlic bread!
Recipe from Life Love And Sugar
1 (9 ounce) package refrigerated three cheese tortellini
1 (1 pound & 3 ounce) package Johnsonville Brats
2 Tablespoons butter
1 Tablespoon minced garlic
crushed red pepper flakes, to taste (I didn't use so I could use more of the cayenne pepper listed below)
2 Tablespoon all purpose flour
1 cup milk
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
cayenne pepper, to taste
2 ounces cream cheese, cubed
ΒΌ cup grated parmesan cheese, from green container or fresh
salt and pepper, to taste
In large pot of boiling water, cook the tortellini according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, cook the brats according to package directions, until cooked through. Remove from skillet, slice into coins and set aside.
Leave the juices from cooking the sausage in the pan, add the butter and melt. Add the garlic and red pepper flakes and cook, stirring regularly, for about 1 minute.
Add the flour and whisk until lightly browned, about one minute. Gradually add the milk and heavy whipping cream, whisking constantly, until slightly thickened, about 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle in the cayenne pepper.
Stir in the cheeses until melted. If you find the sauce is a little thick, you can always add a touch more milk or whipping cream.
Stir in the cooked sausage and cooked pasta. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Serve.
