Applebee's Blondie CopyKat
I found this recipe and wanted to make it for Thanksgiving! It was called SWEET ALABAMA PECAN BREAD but when it was done and we were eating it, I said "this taste like Applebee's Blondie" so I went on the hunt for APPLEBEE'S MAPLE CREAM SAUCE and sure enough I found a CopyKat recipe for it!
OMGoodness, I had created the Applebee's Blondie at home and by pure accident! The Maple Cream Sauce wasn't an accident but the Blondie sure was! It was amazing just like the restaurant!
If you've never eaten a Blondie at Applebee's you are missing out on something delicious! I can't tell you how delicious it is with a warm Blondie with all the good walnuts tucked inside, topped with the warm Maple Cream Sauce and then add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and some glazed walnut on top of that! Heaven! You've got to try it!
Sources noted above are from Just A Pinch and Diamond Walnuts Of California!
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
4 eggs, beaten
1 cup oil
1½ cups self-rising flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups walnuts, chopped
vanilla ice cream, for serving
Maple Cream Sauce
1/3 cup butter
1 cup sugar
8 ounces cream cheese
3 Tablespoons real maple syrup
2 Tablespoons brown sugar
¼ cup powdered sugar, a little more if it seems like to much maple taste
1 cup glazed walnuts, found in the fresh salad section as salad toppers
Preheat oven to 350º.
Spray with non-stick spray and flour a 9X13 inch baking dish. Dust with sugar.
Using a wooden spoon, stir together sugars, eggs and oil in a medium bowl until smooth. Stir in flour and vanilla. Add 2 cups walnuts, stirring until evenly mixed.
Spoon into prepared dish and bake for 30-35 minutes. Test with toothpick in center and toothpick should come out mostly clean.
While the blondies are baking, prepare the sauce.
Combine butter, sugar, cream cheese, maple syrup, brown sugar and powdered sugar in a medium sauce pan and stir over medium heat until cream cheese and sugars are melted. Simmer for 10-15 minutes until ready to serve or warm back up when ready to serve.
Serve blondies warm and top with ice cream and cream sauce. Garnish with glazed walnuts.
