Zooghetti
So I came up with the name of this recipe by combining Zoodles with Spaghetti! We have totally given up any pasta and we were really missing spaghetti and meat sauce/meatballs! I can fix that since I made Zoodles lately for a CHINESE DISH and I went out and bought a Spiral Slicer! The possibilities with this slicer are endless! I love it!
We sure got our fix for spaghetti and meat sauce with this recipe! The Zoodles were perfect spaghetti noodles mixed in with the spaghetti sauce and turkey crumbles and our tummies didn't feel stuffed full of pasta! Amazing!
1 (9.6 ounce) bag Fully Cooked Turkey Sausage Crumbles (found near breakfast sausage Jimmy Dean is what I found)
24 ounces of your favorite spaghetti sauce
1 envelope Dry Italian Dressing Seasoning Mix
garlic powder, to taste
3 medium zucchini
shredded mozzarella cheese, for garnish
Spray a large skillet with cooking spray and brown sausage. When browned, add spaghetti sauce, Italian seasoning mix and garlic powder. Mix well and simmer 5 minutes.
Cut ends off of zucchini. With your mandolin, julienne peeler or spiral slicer, cut the zucchini into long noodles and once they are sliced you can cut them to your desired length for spaghetti.
Add Zoodles to skillet with meat sauce, mix well and cook until your desired tenderness. I cooked mine 15 minutes. Stir often so the Zoodles don't clump together.
Garnish with mozzarella cheese.
