Beefy French Onion Sliders
You know when I first saw this recipe I thought it would have been made with roast beef but instead it was made with ground beef! It was fantastic with ground beef! The nice onion taste with the seasoned topping and the melty, gooey Muenster cheese made for one delicious sandwich! They were very filling too!
Great appetizers or for a meal!
I love making sliders and this is another great recipe to add to my collection! Yum!
Recipe adapted from HOST THE TOAST
1½ pounds ground beef, browned & drained
1 tablespoons beef bouillon granules
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
sea salt and black pepper, to taste
½ envelope onion soup mix
2 tablespoons butter
1 large sweet onions, sliced12 slider buns
10 slices Muenster cheese
Topping
1 Tablespoon butter, melted
1 Tablespoon beef bouillon granules
1 Tablespoons sesame seeds
1 Tablespoon thyme
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Preheat oven to 350°
While you are cooking ground beef you also cook onions in a different skillet.
In a skillet crumble and brown ground beef. Drain. Place back in skillet and add Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and onion soup mix. Mix well.
Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add onions and reduce the heat to medium low. Cook, stirring occasionally, until lightly caramelized, about 25-30 minutes.
Add the beef to the skillet of onions. Mix well.
In a 8x11 baking dish separate the tops from the bottoms of the slider buns. Fit the slider bottom buns tightly together in baking dish.
Spread the beef and onion mixture over the bottom buns. Top with muenster cheese. Place the top buns over cheese.
In a microwave safe bowl melt the butter with the beef bouillon and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well.
Brush over the top buns. Sprinkle with the sesame seeds, thyme, onion powder and garlic powder.
Bake until the cheese is melted. Check to make sure that buns aren't getting hard. You don't want to over bake.
