Dolly Parton Soup & Diet
The Dolly Parton Diet has been around since the 80's I believe! I remember trying it in the 80's and I lost weight! It sure has changed though! A lot more veggies and much more tastier with all the spices. Spicing this up is the key to a NOT so bland soup!
I am a diabetic so I needed to add some protein since adding carbs would be defeating the diets purpose! I will get carbs from the other things allowed on this diet! I consider this a jump start or crash diet to get you going but you can eat this soup as long as you would like! It's really delicious! Anyway, I will get my protein from the fat free ground chicken and the Cannellini Beans when I eat the 2nd soup below!
This Soup can be eaten at any time you feel hungry. Eat as much as you wish as often as you like any time of the day. This soup will not add calories so eat as much as you want. Listed below are the daily steps as to what to eat!
Both soups are really good and tasty!
Week of 1/9/17: I lost 5-6 pounds (fluctuating back and forth) Hubby lost 8 pounds! We both ate the 2nd recipe below!
Week of 1/16/17: I lost 5 pounds and hubby lost 8 more pounds! I ate the original (1st recipe listed) and hubby ate the 2nd recipe listed!
Week of 1/23/17 Holding steady at 11 pounds lost but hubby lost 2 more pounds!
Week of 1/30/17: I lost 3 more pounds for a total of 14 and hubby lost 1 more! We have cut out all of the rice on Sunday because it is way to much and we feel like it sets us back! We have replaced the rice with grilled fish and we may try grilled chicken too! It's working better than rice all day long!

DAY 1: All fruits EXCEPT bananas along with the Soup: Your first day will consist of all the fruit you want except bananas. For all you melon lovers, this is just the day for you. Two fruits, which are lower in calories than most other fruits, are watermelon and cantaloupe. Should you eat only melons, your chances of losing 3 pounds the first day are great.
DAY 2: All vegetables along with the Soup: Eat until you are stuffed with all the fresh, raw or cooked vegetables of your choice. Try to eat green leafy veggies and stay away from veggies such as dried beans, peas and corn. These veggies are good for you but not if you are trying to reduce your calorie intake, which you are. So eat as much of any other vegetables as you want. Surprise, you may also have a large baked potato with butter on your vegetable day.
DAY 3: Fruits and vegetables along with the Soup: same as day 1 and day 2, EXCEPT today...no potato.
DAY 4: Bananas and skim milk along with the Soup: Eat as many as 8 bananas and drink as many as 8 glasses of skim milk on this day, along with your Soup. Bananas are very high in calories and carbohydrates and so is milk. But on this particular day your body will need these essential carbs, proteins and calcium, which will lessen your craving for sweets.
DAY 5: Beef and tomatoes along with the Soup: You may have 10-12 ounces of beef and 6 tomatoes on your fifth day. Try to drink at least 8 glasses of water in order to wash away the uric acid in the body.
DAY 6: Beef and vegetables along with the Soup: Eat until your heart is content of beef and veggies but NO POTATOES today.
DAY 7: Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juice and vegetables along with the Soup: Again stuff, stuff, stuff!
The recipe for the cabbage soup varies slightly among different versions of the diet. But it basically includes cabbage and assorted low calorie vegetables such as onions and tomatoes and is flavored with onion soup mix, V-8 and tomato juice.
