Crockpot Dr. Pepper Pulled Pork
My hubby loves pulled pork and collard greens from a local BBQ restaurant and I tried to create the dishes at home and it was a huge success! I went on a hunt for a pulled pork recipe and found the greatest site for me since I live in a suburb of Cincinnati! The site is Cincy Shopper and it is wonderful! It has recipes, deals and freebies in and out of the area and much more! That is where I found this delicious Dr. Pepper Pulled Pork recipe!
The juicest pork you would ever want to eat, soaking up all the Dr. Pepper, brown sugar and dry onion soup mix! Of course you can use whatever rub you like but I went with the onion soup mix! Not to sweet and not to salty, just perfect!
We added the BBQ sauce to each plate as it was served! I like mine on a bun and hubby likes his on a plate smothered in BBQ sauce! The sauce is best served at room temp and we used Original Sweet Baby Ray's! Delicious Meal!
3-4 pounds Pork Loin Roast
1 packet Dry Onion Soup Mix or Pork Rub or your favorite seasonings
1 (12 ounce) can Dr Pepper
3 Tablespoons brown sugar
Barbecue Sauce, to taste
Season pork with your rub on all sides. Spray or use a crockpot liner. Place in crockpot. Pour in Dr Pepper. Add brown sugar.
Cook on low 10-12 hours depending on your crockpot. Mine was done in 7 hours.
Drain most of the liquid and shred pork.
Add barbecue sauce to taste. I added my sauce to each individual serving as it was plated and not in the crockpot.
Stir well and reduce temp to warm for serving.
