Oriental Salmon
How sweet it is! This marinade on salmon was fantastic! We love salmon and I've been looking for different ways to make it! I've made it with pineapple/blueberry salsa and that was awesome! I've made this marinade for chicken before and it is delicious on chicken! Well it's just as good if not better on salmon!
The sweetness of the honey and brown sugar paired up with soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger and Sriracha makes this one heck of an oriental dish! Your house will smell amazing! Good Eats!
¼ cup honey
1 Tablespoon chopped garlic
2 Tablespoons soy sauce
1 Tablespoon seasoned rice vinegar
1 Tablespoon sesame oil
1 Tablespoon freshly grated ginger
1 Tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon Sriracha hot sauce
ground black pepper, to taste
2 pounds fresh salmon filets
sesame seeds, to taste
Whisk together all of the marinade ingredients. Add 1/3 cup of marinade to a freezer bag with salmon. Reserve the rest. Marinate salmon in the refrigerator for 60 minutes.
If your salmon still has a skin on it, leave it on during searing process. This keeps the salmon from getting dry and the skin is very easy to remove. After the salmon is done searing, lift an edge of the skin up with a sharp knife and then you can just peel it off.
When ready to cook, heat oven to 425°.
In a skillet, heat ½ tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil or sesame oil over medium high heat. Add salmon and sear for 2-4 minutes per side. When well browned on each side, remove skin and transfer salmon to a sprayed baking dish. Transfer dish to the oven adding the reserved marinade on top of salmon.
Bake until the salmon reaches an internal temperature of 135° and is slightly firm to the touch, about 4-7 min, depending on thickness.
